Christmas tree tradition. |
|
My sister would like to know is it bad luck to put a Christmas tree up before December?
Bare in mind we are in Australia and don't celebrate Thanksgiving.

1. Chicago has their decorations already up |
|
They are also selling fresh Christmas Trees all over the Chicagoland area so it must not be bad luck.
We use to put the tree up the day after Thanksgiving which is a tradition that many Americans follow.

All of the trees are already gone from the lots. I am sure they will get some more in but I passed them last week and they had tons of them and I walked past them tonight and they were all gone.

as I was driving home I saw a couple of lighted decorated trees in the windows of peoples homes. Once years and years ago my family was having my aunt and uncle over for Thanksgiving dinner and since we were going to someone else's house for Christmas we decided we would put our tree up BEFORE Thanksgiving so my aunt and uncle could see it when they came for dinner. Turned out that was a tad to early and they were less than thrilled. I guess combining the holidays scared them :scared:, they didn't want to think about Christmas quite that soon. :-)

Most are cut by now in the State of Maine and we have a lot of trees in this market.
