Redstone's Rule #3: Never argue with a person who gives the same answer to every question.

4. Yes, and yes to WJMS, too.
Both are examples of people not worth arguing with. But we have people with a wide range of fixations here at DU, so you get all kinds of mono-answer types, not just bible-thumpers and GW Bushes.

5. This sounds reasonable, my dear Redstone....
But I must have missed the other two Rules.....

Can you supply them to me?

7. For you, anything. They're rules I made for myself:
Redstone's Rule #1: Never argue with a bitter person.

Redstone's Rule #2: Never argue with a person who sees things that aren't there.

I decided to formulate and employ these rules as a handy explanation of my reason for terminating discussions that are clearly doomed, because the arguee fits one of the three categories.

These rules are kind of like Godwin's Law, which states: "He who first mentions or makes a comparison to Nazis in a discussion, loses." (That's a paraphrase, but you get the idea.)

I offer these rules to all reasonable DUers for their free use and enjoyment. Invoking them as needed (especially in GD) can save you hours of wasted time and unnecessary heartburn.

16. Well, if they get into general usage, I'll be immortal, right?
We all should leave something for the benefit of mankind (or at least the worthwhile part of mankind, which would be DUers, of course).

22. Was only ever in Mobile once, way back in the 1970s.
I'd like to see the place again, since I don't remember much of anything from that long ago. Or even a couple of days ago, for that matter.

Though I did go onto the battleship. I think.

25. Mobile is the birthplace of Mardi Gras, contrary to popular belief.
It is progressive in its own enigmatic way. I am a born & bred Midwestern spacelady, but after nine years here, I am sold on the South. So if you get a chance, come on down.
We were marginally affected by Hurricanes, now back up to snuff, plus would give any DU'er a chance to see & help our neighbors firsthand. Seriously, Mardi Gras is a huge deal here plus more family-friendly, so if y'all want to see the real deal, it IS Mobile.

Though it's not generally stated in such an understandable way.
