Farmers Use CDs to Help Relax Turkeys (2 stories)

LONDON - Christmas can be stressful, especially if you're a turkey. But relaxed birds are better, so the National Farmer's Union has come up with a soothing plan. Officials said Monday the organization has sent 114 farmers a compact disk of sounds including birds twittering in the early morning, wind chimes, whale sounds and the gobble of "happy turkeys," to play to their birds.

"It is well known that a stressed bird is more prone to disease," said a spokesman.

LONDON (Reuters) - Britain's farming union has released a chill-out album to help turkeys keep calm in the understandably stressful run-up to Christmas.

Geoff Hemus is one of 300 U.K. farmers who will be playing recordings of Gregorian chants, whale calls and rustling forests to his 3,500 birds.

1. If we are going to mass produce animals/birds to eat, why not

2. I can see the labels now...
...this turkey was relaxed and happy before being slaughtered. You KNOW that means it will taste better. :D

5. "This turkey produced by GWAR"
For those who like their meat a little less moist, a little tougher, a little darker.

Also available is our Hal David line (bland, fluffy, all white meat, and moist), our Mozart line (Turkey that's just right!), our Mahler line (it's taste and texture depends on when you actually cut into it), and our Kenny G line of pork products (Just like Kenny G thinks he's a musician, these pigs think they're turkey).
