Anyone else enjoying "The Two Towers: Extended Edition"? |
|
Just like last time, the Extended Edition is an interesting enhancement of the original. I still prefer the theatrical versions "as movies" but these extended versions have an operatic scope that I really like, as an old-school Tolkien fan.

2. Yeah. It's really good. |
|
Pity about the commentators making bizarre WTC analogies about the blowing up of the Deeping Wall at Helm's Deep. It's very odd.

Keeps getting better every time. Although that semi homo-erotic scene still cracks me up.

6. I don't know about homo-erotic |

Hobbits are gay in the 19th century innocent sense. :)
That's kind of like people think Old Toby is *ahem* a different kind of pipe weed.

10. I didn't see that either |

I remember the moment too from seeing TTT in the theater, and I don't get the "homo-eroticism" unless it's wishful thinking on someone's part.

4. Absolutely loved it!!! |
|
The extended scenes REALLY made the movie...I loved the original version of the Two Towers, but the added scenes made it into a completely different (and in my mind even better) movie!!! Fer instance, where Saruman is talking about using the forest trees for the fuel...that REALLY FILLED IN THE GAPS with the Ents going berserk at the end...that and there must have been 15 more minutes with Gandalf!!!

But we got to see why Boromir went after the ring. Not because he was a lesser man, but because he just wanted to do right by his father and his people.
I'm glad they included the Boromir scenes in the extended version.

I have been dragging my feet in obatining the new CD, but finding out from you that Boromir is in it will get me running to the store to get it.
Two Towers was wonderful, suffered a bit from being the middle story, but I felt that Sean Bean's performance in Fellowship had been so outstanding that that was another thing that was sadly missing.

I always felt the movie shortchanged the Ents, who are just plain awesome.
I'm really hoping that what Peter Jackson said on the commentary is true and that Return of the King is more true to the book than Two Towers was. I'm something of a Tolkien fundie. ^^;;

It makes the movie so much better with the extended scenes. I haven't had a chance to look at the commentaries and the rest of the extras.

9. The movie was bad enough... |
|
but an extended version......can you say boring? :boring: Hopefully the third movie in the series will be better than the second one.
