What gifts are you getting for your family members
Since it's better to give than to recieve what gifts that you are giving to your family members? Anything interesting of note?

I saved up three months and am giving my mom a glass jewerly box.

My nephew Jarred is getting his first dungeon and dragons book - players hand books and DM Guide

My niece Destiny wants the Napoleon Dynamite DVD

And since I drew my brother's Doug name in our grab bag
I am giving him a gift certificate to the local music store.

I also got a gift for my parish priest, one of those coffe cup collection with a note that says "from a democrat on it"

I want to give phone cards to the troops this year but I am flat broke. Hopefully for new years. So what are you getting your family this year.

1. I got my husband a gift card to his favorite
sporting goods store. I got the kids the stuff they asked for from Santa...I got my brothers each one of those neat calendars Skinner was hawking a while back, and some stuff from Omaha Steaks.

I give the fire house here a Blockbuster gift card with some drinks and popcorn....

That's about it.

I gave away almost all of my bonus to families in my community who were having a hard time this year.

3. Johnny C you reminded me
We chipped in and gave my dad the huge Johnny Cash gift box. I think it's called the Legend Collection. I may be wrong though.

4. LeftyKid's getting some clothes and a cape to match his Darth Vader helmet
I didn't go nuts with toys because he has a ton already and my sister will give him more.

My sister's getting some kitchen stuff for her new apartment and a new bladder for her hydration backpack thing she wears when snowboarding.

My Mom and her new husband get a gift card to Home Depot, since they just got a new place and are remodeling it themselves.

My Dad's getting a new shirt. I didn't spend much on him and I feel a little bad but I'll make it up in a few weeks on his birthday.

I sent LeftyKid's paternal grandparents a photo display wheel and some prints of LeftyKid.

Outside the family I sent a box of baked goods to my favorite DUer, but that's about it. Money's tight this year.

5. Nothing at all.
I have declared a no gift policy Christmas. I don't have children and it is pointless to exchange useless stuff with my grown siblings. My parents have everything they want so why give them something they don't want?
My theory is Christmas is the celebration of Jesus's birth. How does that relate to giving gifts? I know the three wise men came bearing gifts for Jesus but I don't recall anything about them giving gifts to everyone they knew.
I am sorry but I won't be doing it anymore.

tjwmason, but he's out of my price range.

So I'm settling for an Amazon.com gift card. :) Books, CDs, DVDs, sex toys. I'm good to go.

19. Wow you missed the whole thing about that?
Yeah, amazon subcontracts to Babes in Toyland. It's all very discreet.....

And , yes, TJ does know. But he thinks torturing me is foreplay. Which I can't really argue against.

21. Several reasons
Yes, the undies are cute, but they have no understanding of a woman's body. And what feels good to wear. All looks and no comfort. Great for boys, not so great for girls.

Check out BitchPHD. com for a complete analysis.

...an Omega watch for my wife, a portable DVD player for my frequently travelling brother along with something to play in it (the Godfather trilogy and the three CSI Miami DVD sets), and a combined 12 DVD sets for my parents (the only thing worth buying for parents who have everything).

14. We decided not to do gifts for the
adults and instead donated to a local group, Game Cubes with games for some teens since most people forget teens from needy families deserve a Christmas too. Also some gift cards so they could shop on their own. Donated to the Rebuild the Coast Fund (www.rebuildthecoastfund.org) that John Grisham started. We ask those that would of bought us gifts to donate to a non-profit instead. It has been really fun to hear where the donations went even though we did not ask anyone to tell us. My step daughter and her family adopted a needy family in their area and bought Christmas for them, my dad & family donated to a fund in Orlando that bought presents for needy kids. My mom did the same as we did here. The kids in the family are getting gifts but even they volunteered to get less if we could give more to others. Hoping to make this a yearly thing to do.

16. Christmas is beyond tight this year
with my daughter in college and losing my job, there's no money to pay the heating bill. I get great joy out of giving to others. It will have to wait til I'm back on my feet. Hopefully that will be soon.

20. We donated to Heifer.org.
I'm tired of giving people stupid stuff and getting stupid stuff in return. So this year we decided to donate to Heifer.org in all of our family members names. We also asked them to do the same for us instead of giving useless gifts.

We ended up buying a water buffalo, a flock of geese, and a beehive. We plan on doing this every year from now on.

26. my husband is getting a laptop,
and I bought him some DVDs thathe wants for "Gift Opening"

I bought our daughter a fuzzy robe, a teapot and whistling kettle for her new apartment, some jewelry (not expensive)

Her dad is going to help her buy a microwave and toaster oven for the new apt.

My present from my husband came earlier this year: two gorgeous pieces of jewelry that he found in Wyoming and gave to me in September when we vacationed with him up there.

Oh yeah, my employer gave everybod $50 Blockbuster gift cards and I am giving it to daughter because she has a membership already and BB won't let you use their gift card unless you have a membership (for rentals, anyway)

Don't exchange with the inlaws anymore (thank God there are 20 of them altogether) The whole family donates to Heifer which was the best idea my SIL ever came up with!!!

Don't exchange with my sisters unless we are together for Christmas, which is never. We call each other on Christmas Day and that is our present.
