CAPTIONS? Hard to do while my father is dying.

This just to say that I will not be captioning very much for a while. My father is being sent home from the hospital today to die at home. He's 85 and it's not unexpected, but that doesn't make the impact any less.

But I want to say, though I might be absent here for awhile, I've not given up on DU or CAPTIONs. I'

It's hard thing to deal with. My dad was lucky to have a wonderful wife that took care of him. Had he been in a hospital, we would have died long before he did.

Went through that myself about eight years ago. It was a bit more of a surprise in my family -- my dad was only in his sixties -- but it's never easy even when it isn't as surprising.

32. I'm so very sorry to learn this, skip...

Losing a parent is *very* tough at any age -- I lost my 90-year-old mom this year, and it was a rough go. She had a great run, but it's hard to say goodbye to those who gave you life.

When your parents are gone, you are in a sense an orphan, severed from that connection to your personal history.
