How Idealistic are you?
Another sort of Political Compass: http://politics.beasts.org/

It, like others recently, has two axes. In this case they're Left/Right and Pragmatic/Idealistic.

I scored
left/right -4.3045 (-0.2591)
pragmatism +1.1014 (+0.0663)

(so that's fairly liberal, and somewhat of a pragmatist).

Anybody else feel up to it? Only 75 questions...

but, at least I _AM._ What happened to the rest of you folks?

1 left/right -7.0608 (-0.4250)
2 pragmatism -1.5137 (-0.0911)

Anyone know a candidate's stump speeches well enough to rate a campaign?

7. Call Me A Rationalist

1. Left/right -1.9272 (-0.1160)

2. Pragmatic -1.19922 (-0.7220)

I had a feeling I'd score like this. I tend to focus my beliefs directly on Aristotle's golden mean--between excess and deficiency or between contradictions; on Nicholas de Cusa's Infinite Line, where there is no proportion between the infinite and finite.

I study philosophy, theology, and Classical Studies. If something seems true, I use Symbolic Logic to make sure. I trace it's idea back to infinity. I wish I were more liberal, i.e. normal, but I'm too rationalistic.

You guys need to get out the Chairman's little red book twice everyday and read poetry.

14. Idealism is overrated. It can be like an opiate in some circumstances.
And who says poetry has to be idealistic?

20. It is interesting how pragmatic most of us are.
It says on the site that the pragmatic/idealistic axis is fairly flat - it's difficult to get a high positive or negative on it. Just look at where the celebrities are on the graph.

I was a bit worried at only being -4ish on the left/right scale, so I'm happier now to find that's not so bad.

Axis Position

I could have sworn I was giving conservative answers. Those must have been measuring idealism and pragmatism.
