TYLER, Texas - A Marine who's planning to marry a Texan got an early Christmas present: A fellow shopper picked up the tab for a $3,000 diamond engagement ring after the two struck up a conversation in a jewelry store.

The 54-year-old Dallas woman who paid for the 1-carat, princess cut diamond ring wants to remain anonymous, Helzberg Diamonds spokeswoman Stacey McBride told The Associated Press on Friday.

The woman's father was in the military, her brother was a Marine who died in Vietnam and her nephew just got back from Iraq, McBride said.

Marine James Lynaugh, 28, of Patuxent River, Md., was shopping Thursday at the Helzberg Diamonds store at a mall in Tyler.

5. My son is a Marine
and I can tell you the people who "support" him with letters, emails, and packages when he's been in Iraq (two tours) and when he's at home, have been liberals. He gets pats on the back and a lot of bravado "kill'em all" talk from the freepers when he's home. But that's it. When he's been in Fallujah, he received books, magazines, T-shirts, games, letters and drawings from kids, and candy from all our liberal friends.
What he gets from the freepers is talk. No listening to what he has to say. They just want reinforcement of their own talk radio soaked blather.
So, I'm with you. This lady was probably a liberal.
If she'd been a Bushie, all she would have given him would have been a litany of how we're not "hearing the good stuff" about Iraq cause our media is a bunch of commies.
