I love my life and I love men...Can I get a witness!
Even though my state will have a fat, evil troll for governor in January, and even though I live amidst fundamentalist Republicans, and even though I experience stress as I split my time between my child, my career, and my education, I must say that my life is great and I have no huge complaints.

And even though I was physically abused by my ex-husband, and even though I have dated some total jerks since then, I still adore men--most of my best friends are guys! I refuse to label all men assholes just because of several bad experiences.

So, can I get a witness? Is life good for you? Even though you have had bad experiences with the opposite sex, can you still say that men or women are great?

4. I believe so
I don't date people of the opposite sex, so I don't know how I would relate. However, let us just say that we are with you here at DU and if you ever want to talk things out, you'll always have a home in the internet. :-)

6. hell yes!
No gender generalizations from me! I think we have ALL had our fair share of sorrow, and nothing will take away my love of life and the people in it who enrich it.

Here's to all the women and men who make our lives richer! :toast:

7. Right here, sister
Married and divorced more than once. Sad story...I was convinced I just made bad choices and was doomed for a life alone. I'm an intelligent gal, but for the life of me I could not choose men. Then, a lovely thing happened: The right guy chose ME! So count me among those who love life. And, I love the man in my life. He's fabulous and I feel like I won the lottery. I got a do-over! Hooray!

Keep in mind I live in Texas and I'm a liberal. B-) It can get dicey sometimes! But I never let The Man get me down.

Stay happy, sister...

8. Women rock my world
I have always enjoyed the company of women more than men, although I've been screwed over a few times.

9. Blessed Be
My life indeed.

Will not let a few bitter me to many, ever.

I am lucky to have a roof over my head, food on my plate , and a life of wonderous adventures (both happy and sad)

Thanks for the callout!

Peace,
Teresa

10. Let's face it, in the whole of human history, we are damn lucky
to be as fat dumb and happy as we are in America.

We're practically an entire nation of royalty. While even today most people on earth are worried about necessities of life, we Americans fret over mere conveniences.

We are blessed. And I hope we never tell the rest of the world to "eat cake", or it will be the beginning of the end of our blessings.

12. That's the problem, we *are* telling the world to eat cake
SOME in our society have gotten 'disaccustomed' to hardship, and don't realize what these little foreign adventures into foreign lands with our cruise missiles do to the lives of families very similar to our own.

13. I've never been terribly fond of life but mine is blessed
whether I am terribly fond of it or not. I love humanity and only have issues with a few men and women and do my best to keep what I think of them separate from the manner in which I regard the rest of humanity.

I don't believe it. You betray an incredible passion for it in your posts.

17. Life is good, and men are ok,
as long as you understand them and avoid committment.

My life is great, I live on a beach in Mexico and don't have to work. I could probably hang out here very comfortably for the rest of my life.

Or at least until bush and the neocon fascists invade Mexico.

Unfortunately, I have to work every day to protect my country from bush, so I can't just drink Margaritas on the beach and frolic all day in the sun, like I really want to do.

Damn that bush. Well, after the 2004 election I can get totally back to the really important things in life for awhile. Peace, love, freedom, and happiness.

19. Overall...
I'd have to say life is good. It's much better anyway now being in a more striving-to-be-self-actualized state now as opposed to some of the states I've been in in life.
As for men, well, my marriage isn't the best all the time, but I had a lot of wonderful years too. I have my boys who I love. I generally look back at the men I was with before my husband with fondness because I always seemed to pick pretty decent guys for the right reasons (with a minor exception I look upon as a good life lesson). Frequently I like men better because they are, as a whole, more straitforward than most women and funnier. Also, I'd have to admit, since I'm a strait woman, I like to sometimes simply appreciate their maleness for what it is.
