How can a person produce that much goop?
If you really want to clear it out, you could mace yourself, but I wouldn't do that. I remember from basic when we went through the gas chamber, those danged CS grenades will drain your brains out of your head.

with about 5 ft of goop coming from each nostril.
Gross as hell. I think CS is cruel. It sure as hell clears out anything remaining in your cranium.

The part where they were coming out of that chamber... snot on boots, close up of my neice... brother-in-law said that was NOT what he envisioned for his delicate daughter.
Wonder who has that video now that her girls are old enough to appreciate it

21. It is zinc gel, basically |
|
They sell it on swabs or in a squirter. Be sure if you get the squirter that you don't use it like normal nasal spray, just point it to the front tip of your nose, or it will burn.
I guess it binds with the virus, and doesn't allow it to reproduce in your nose. It is a bit pricey, like 8 bucks, but it lasts, and it is worth it!
Good luck!

16. Have you ever done a neti pot? It's a warm salt water rinse of the nose. |
|
I do one almost every day to keep the sinuses clear - really helps with the allergies.
But I ask because, often if I go for a while without one, or have been in real dirty/dusty areas, when I do a rinse, some really awful ugly stuff has come out of the nose.

27. I started cheating on my colds |
|
I take my allergy medicine during the runny nose phase. It is an anti-histamine and it makes that phase much more bearable. I cannot understand why anybody would buy Kleenex though, especially after what they did in Biafra. More to the point, restaurants are always throwing away perfectly unused napkins, or including a bunch of them when you order take-out. I go through alot of napkins during my two allergy seasons. During my health class I learned that there are no anti-histamines which are both safe and effective, and mine is one of those, only partially effective. If I run out of napkins, I will use TP before I buy Kleenex. It also seems more appropriate if crap is coming out of your nose to use TP for it.

And Kleenex does not hold up to a nose blow. At least, not one of mine.
But mostly for ecological reasons, I eschew Kleenex.

I don't think they even make women's hankies anymore. What they used to make was so worthless, you wouldn't dare use it in public - except to dab your eyes at weddings & funerals.
I'll still stick with Bounty. It has the lasting power of at least a dozen tissues. :)

34. LOL! I hear you, if I don't have a hanky, I have to look for a paper towel |
|
or even use a dirty shirt or something. Kleenex simply cannot and will not hold up.
And it's too bad about the women's hankies - women should be allowed to blow their noses in public just like men can.

On day 3 of a horrible, snot-producing cold myself. It's absolutely wretched. I've been taking zinc lozenges since the 1st day, but it doesn't seem to be doing much good. And I've gone through a box of Kleenex already.
