I just found out a friend's husband is going to Iraq! |
|
This just makes me so angry because this war finally hit close to home. A friend of mine has a husband in the reserves. He already went to Bosnia for 9 months a few years ago and now he's getting sent for an 18 month(!!!) tour in Iraq. I didn't think they sent people for that long. And he's leaving a week before Christmas. Not to mention, they have two little girls and she just found out she's pregnant after losing twins this Summer to a miscarriage. I told her I would do what I can do. She's not a close friend, but she's a really sweet person and one of the few other cool moms I know in my neighborhood. How many more families are going to have to be destroyed for Halliburton and the Carlysle Group to have enough money? It's just not fair.

This is so wrong. I hope your friend's husband will be safe, and that she'll get through the stress and worry. She's lucky to have you as a neighbor.
My best friend's sister's guard unit has been activated. She's leaving before Christmas for 6 months of stateside training, and then 18 months (at least) in Iraq. She's an engineer - builds roads. We told her we had friends in Canada, Australia, and Italy - and we begged her to leave the country and not go. She's going to go, because she's an honorable woman.
How I loathe George Bush.
