In honor of the New Year: Words or phrases you hope to never hear again. |
|
I've got a couple that I'd like to see retired:
"IT IS WHAT IT IS"
Rhetorical bullshit. It would be wrong to say "It is what it isn't" so why say "it is what it is"? One reason this one annoys me is because I've been hearing it from a crooked software vendor. In their case "it is what it is" translates to "it isn't what the salesmen said it would be".
"WELCOME TO MY WORLD"
I've been hearing this way too often in I.T support. As soon as I sit down at someone's workstation or when I acknowledge their problem they spout off with "welcome to my world". As if this one small problem somehow defines "their world". GET OVER IT!
Of course there's always "compassionate conservative" but if you can still say that one with a straight face you are in serious need of professional help.
Any other suggestions?

At the end of the day, it's one of the most overused expressions since "welcome to my world"

Well, I could go on, but you get the idea. "At the end of the day" I want to see all those MFs gone.
