My sister does it that way and it's so gross. I love green beans, but don't wreck them that way. I like my beans straight up... a little butter maybe... and slightly crisp.

I know it's cheesy, and I am actually a good cook of higher-level things (I hate just about all fakey and processed foods), but this one gets past my defenses. It just screams, "Thanksgiving". lol

But I have to admit to all - my dearest friends - I really love that canned cranberry jelly that comes out shaped like a can. I love to slather it onto cold turkey late the night of Thanksgiving.

28. Yeah, the country stone ground cornbread
I am addicted to a steaming hot dish of cornbread dressing, mixed with diced celery, onions, mushrooms, a hot chicken broth infused with a little garlic, rosemary and sage mixture, and when done looks like a bread pudding. Then topped off with the gravy made from a kettle-roasted smoked turkey...Hot damn!

31. Squash ...
Squash with plenty of butter is very good. Beyond that I'd vote for the taters and gravy. Turkey's good but not essential.

Black olives, green olives, and pumpkin pie. Good enough.

Asparagus is just one of those love 'em or hate 'em veggies! I have never met anyone who says "Asparagus? Yeah, it's okay." It is one of those extreme veggies, but not as extreme as a Sonic tater tot.

And opinions were VERY strong in either direction!

At least I didn't mention how it makes pee stink! :o Personally, I am not in the habit of smelling my own urine, lol.

Oh, I DID like asparagus once. This fancy-schmancy restuarant in Seattle served it on my rack of lamb once, and it was actually quite good! Maybe I just have never had it done right.

44. Mashed taters and gravy
My DH makes THE BEST homemade mashed potatoes and veg. mushroom gravy EVER. That's pretty much our main dish at Thanksgiving since we neither one of us eat meat. That, and our famous original fake oyster and meatless sausage cornbread stuffing (use artichokes to sub for the oysters, use GimmeLean Sausage substitute in place of sausage). We don't even bother with a Tofurkey anymore. Don't need it.
