You'll never guess who's been cast as Alfred in the new BATMAN movie

Christian Bale is the new Bruce Wayne. Christopher Nolan (Memento) will direct.

1. Christian Bale is a real talent

he can pull of a lot better Batman then the last 2 they tried out, and may even give Keaton a run for his money. Keaton is a better actor, but Bale is made for the part.

Although he was looking soft in Laurel Canyon. They probably won't have to pad the suit as much with him!

2. Let's hope this one doesn't suck

But, since the track record since the second one has been that they DO suck, I hold little hope for this one, too.

Val Kilmer as Batman? Sucked. Stories also sucked, so the movies sucked.

George Clooney made a great Batman, but the script was so pisspoor awful, that movie sucked. Bigtime.

3. 3rd wasnt bad

I thought Val Kilmers movie was great, you're right about the fourth though

5. No, I didn't like the third at all

I thought Kilmer was a completely miserable Batman, and the story was terrible as well.

Even the second Batman I wasn't all that impressed with - the first one was so beautifully serious and Batman-ish and had all the proper darkness and moodiness the Dark Knight should have, but starting with the second the movies became increasingly campy and odd.

7. I agree.

When the first Batman came out I was excited. Then I found out I didn't like the director Tim Burton. Then I found out Michael Keaton was playing Batman. And lastly I saw the trailer on TV where Michael said, "I'm Batman."

No, you are Mr. Mom, you are no Batman.


The rest of them sucked ass to which completely pissed me off. The Dark Knight doesn't deserve this.

8. But did you like the first one?

I, too, was very afraid about Keaton as batman, but I thought he was perfect, and Burton did a great job on that movie. I am very impressed with the first Batman, much more than I ever expected I would be.

Not so keen on the rest.

And Schumacher has not a clue on how to direct.

Who's directing this next movie?

10. I thought it was weird casting

But then again, we are talking about Tim Burton.

I really liked Michael Keaton in the role. The first movie showed Batman as an off-kilter guy with a lot of personal demons.

Too bad the following movies really sucked.

11. I thought the second was the best of the lot.

The first set a good tone, but tried too hard. The second seemed to get it right, IMHO.

But I think the second of any movie series gets it better than the first, with very few exceptions ("Indiana Jones" and "Back To The Future are notable exceptions).

9. This is looking better and better every day

Bale has the look and intensity and is an excellent actor. He will make a great Bruce Wayne. Christopher Memento Nolan is an amazing talent. Michael Caine is more than I could have ever hoped for.

Plus the word is that they are trying to make this a more "serious", "X-Men"-ish study of a troubled man who avenges his family's death by fighting crime in a bat suit, further removed from the homoerotic costume carnivals of Joel Schumacher and the incomprehensible freak shows of Tim Burton.

Now if only a squad of no-talent hack writers like Akiva Goldsman don't come in to screw things up royally, this one has a chance to actually be great.
