Teevee guys on the 49ers-Houston game just said |
|
they're in a "breezy" Candlestick Park.
I'm a bit south of SF, but when it's as nasty as it is down here, the Stick is fixin' to blow into the Bay. Or, considering the odd wind direction, into the Mission District.
Candlestick's "breezy" on a beautiful day. :eyes:

2. He'll probably end up on SF or Houston. |
|
His high school teammate, Alex Smith, is the QB for the Niners. He'd probably prefer to stay on the west coast anyway. Could you blame him? Go Houston!

The implication is that both teams should lose. :eyes:
Going to baseball games at Candlestick wasn't much fun. It could be 70 degrees in the first inning of a day game, and by the sixth the wind would come up and you're freezing your ass off. Veteran fans understood the importance of layering.

This veteran Giants fan used a sleeping bag out in the right field bleachers before they totally closed in the Stick.
Hmmm, breezy? The anemometer on Angel Island blew away after it had been registering 77 mph wind speeds.

I never sat in the bleachers. Usually in the lower deck on the first-base side, back under the overhang.
Ever get a Croix de Candlestick?
Worst SF wind I ever experienced was at Fort Point, up on top where the gun emplacements were, almost directly under the Golden Gate Bridge. That 77 mph doesn't seem too far off. :scared:

8. No Croix de Candlestick but I was loyal..... |
|
through the lean years. I attended Giants games with less then 3000 people in attendance.
Oh the bleachers were grand. 90 cents! Hot cocoa and pound cake was the fare for us back then. Times have been better.

9. I remember a few games in the '70s |
|
when there were like 1,100 people. And across the bay, the A's drew less than 1,000 a few times.

That's an understatement. How about f*cking windy. It has been blowing hard all day and had just begun to rain.
Our power flickered a bit and I hope it doesn't go out. My daughter-in-law is supposed to fly back to NYC out of San Francisco tonight. I'm sure there will be delays.
