1. Impious
Once you get over wondering why a word that means irreverent or not pious is pronounced IMP-ee-us, it's fun to say the word correctly and watch people's expressions when you say it. I guarantee you will cause a tangential discussion about pronunciation if you casually slip this word into a sentence: "I don't mean to be impious, but why have these Christmas decorations been up since November 1?"
