Met an interesting fundie yesterday |
|
He was anti abortion, but pro choice (said without the ability to choose virtue over sin, the choice means nothing) Anti porn, yet 1st ammendment absolutist He was anti Iraq war He said homosexuality is a sin, but that gay marriage should exist (and cited the "cast the first stone" ref) And also said he believed Clinton was a Christian, where as Shrub was not (cited "so their fruits shall they be known")
Damn, I wish more fundies could be this way...keeping their religion to themselves rather than trying to push it on others!

2. Socially liberal, personally conservative |
|
Since outside of politics, I really didn't have a whole lot in common with him

7. I agree with this guy on one really, really important part |
|
Without the ability to choose virtue over sin, the choice menas nothing. No matter what the choice is, no matter what the opinion of virtue is, I believe this to always, always be true.
Actually, I agree with him on another point. I am also anti-abortion and pro-choice. I hope to never have to make that choice, and if I did, I hope I would have the strength to have the baby. However, I would never presume to make that choice for anyone else, neither would I condemn anyone else for choosing an abortion. Until I am personally willing to say "Yes, I personally will feed, clothe, shelter, and nurture you, ensure your child is born and you are cared for, and then raise your child as my own" I do not have the right to say anything to anyone for her choice. Even then, all I really have the right to say is to offer exactly that, a way to make the choice of delivering the child possible.
Good for him. Thanks for posting this - you made my day :-)

The Principled Christian is a endangered species, nearly hunted to extinction by the American Taliban.

10. Not sure the word "fundie" describes this guy... |
|
fundies don't hold those positions. Lot of Christians who do, but not fundamentalist ones.
Anyway, glad you found him...hope he votes Democratic. Bet he does.

|
a conservative to moderate democrat. That probably would not have made his day.
