What is the last movie you saw in the theatre?
I saw "The New World" the other day. WOW!!! What a great film. I highly recommend it. It opens nationwide on Jan 20th.

Before that I saw "Syriana" I also highly recommend that.

10. It was okay - it wasn't as bad as the critics said.
It wasn't as good as its potential. If you haven't seen it but are interested, I'd say it's worth a rental or PPV.

Now...if/when I make the move...maybe I'll go out more. Maybe. :D

I just don't like doing stuff alone, and I would have to see movies myself for the most part. x(

15. I live in Los Angeles - the theatres here are worth the price
most of them are big, very comfortable and most importantly, the sound and audio systems are state of the art. And we get the best prints of the films, too. I feel spoiled.

And I try to go to a film after it has been out for a while so there aren't too many morans. Matinees are good for that, too.

21. Actually, the marathon occurred
in Omaha, Nebraska. Cuz frankly, there's nothing else to do. We were pissed that we kept seeing ads for "Casanova" that said it would be released at Christmas, but it wasn't anywhere to be found. I got back to LA and it's everywhere, lol.

However, I have taken advantage of a few limited-release movies here in LA. Most recently, The Chumscrubber. Stupid name, great movie. Ralph Fiennes. Glenn Close. Allison Janney. Fabulous.

The stage version was infinately better, but it was still fun to see how it translated to the big screen! Will Ferrell was freaking hilarious as Franz Liebkind.

The 1968 original, Oscar Winning, Film is still head and shoulders above the later incarnations, but Jon Lovitz, Uma Thurman and Will Ferrell were pretty funny......

47. Brokeback Mountain
Only movie this year that was BETTER than I expected. Ledger and Gyllenhall are revelations (I was not particularly a fan of either going in) - I would like Oscar nods for both, though it looks like Ledger's getting all the attention. As someone who remembers the Texas culture in the late 70s/early 80s, I can say those aspects of this film were dead on and made it so, so real to me. Heartwrenching. Not a gay movie. An epic romance movie. Writ small.
