Here Is The Cast Info For The LOTR Emoticon Thread

The thread which will be ready for it's first chapter (yes, I'm doing this in chapters) shortly includes this list of characters and the DUers who will be representing them...

Thank you everyone who signed up to be on the list. Due to the shortage of roles and the overwhelming number of applicants I was unable to give everyone a part. And in one instance I had to give a part to someone who did not apply (because they fit that role better than anyone I could think of - you'll understand what I mean when you see who it is).

Also, certain male parts will be played by women in this version. There are only two main female characters in LOTR and more than half the people who wanted to be in on this were women...so some parts of my story will have inadvertant lesbianism. :D

90. You Have to Actually Infer A Lot To Understand Tom

There are hints here and there, but unlike Gandalf, Saruman and Sauron, who were Maia, or servants of the Valar (a God in LOTR mythos), Tom, IMO, IS one of the Valar. In the LOTR book, it's interesting that Tom is not effected by the ring all. It has NO power over him, therefore, even Sauron would probably have very little, if any, power over Tom as the ring is just an extension of Sauron's power. If Tom is in fact one of the Valar, then Sauron would have actually been a servant of Tom's. This link leads to a cool paper on Tom that I recommend you read. It hypothesizes that not only is Tom a Valar but it concludes that he may very well be none other than Aule. It also answers the question as to why Tom is a minor character and not involved in the war.

Ioreth is the old nurse in the Houses of Healing (Gondor) who held onto the prophecy "the hands of the king are the hands of a healer"

Aragorn comes to the Houses of Healing to treat Faramir, Eowyn, and Merry with the herb kingsfoil. He heals the three, thus fulfilling the prophecy.


Beregond is the soldier/guardsman in Gondor who trains Pippin, and who blocks the door to Faramir's chamber to prevent Denethor from slaying him. Technically, he has violated his office doing this, but he is later pardoned by Aragorn (now King Elessar)
