An enduring, albeit inscrutable, American Myth was born.

7. I have explained plenty on here

Avail yourself of the search feature. But funny you should mention Camelot, a heaping mound of mythical bullshit if ever there was one.

This is one liberal that doesn't give a tinker's damn (bet you never heard that phrase before, but I am a geezer) about the fucking Kennedys. They are maybe one level above the Bushes on the evolutionary scale, although not by much. If it helps, I am glad ol' Teddy is trying to redeem himself in his old age. Not bad for a senator, but fuck the Kennedys.

2. Although we don't need any more JFK posts...
that was a sad,sad day. I wish I wasn't old enough to remember it..then no doubt my perspective would be better.

3. That's ironic that you say that,
'cause I wish I HAD been old enough, and I didn't even make my debut in the world until around 14 months later, lol! I grew up in a Kennedy-crazy family, though, so I've always been fascinated with everything and anything to do with them, particularly JFK and Robert. I planted myself in front of the History Channel this past weekend and gorged on a lot of footage I'd never even seen before.

6. Don't wish that...
you're wishing your life away,as my grandmother would say whenever I said I wished I was older:)
It was just such a mind-numbing horrible time. My family loved Kennedy, too, and this was the first time I realized that the adults didn't always have a handle on things. I was 10 but I remember everything about it so clearly. I wish I could recapture the thrill of Kennedy's election, especially for Irish Catholics. The assassination just blocks out everything else that I remember about Kennedy.

8. I've heard a lot of people say that
over the years, including plenty in my own family. They had such hope, and to see it turn to shit like that in just a few seconds of gunfire was beyond horrible to them.

4. One of Vince Lombardi's most prized possessions
was a telegraph from JFK after the Packers beat the Giants to win the championship in 1961.

"Congratulations on a great game. It was a fine victory for a great coach, a great team, a great town. Best regards, President Kennedy"

After the assasination, Vince kept a prayer card for JFK in his personal Bible for the rest of his life.

Different times, then.
