Should I cut my hair?
I am watching one of my favorite movies, WOrking Girl, and I realize that not only am I 20 years older than the character of Tess, but my hair looks just like hers (at the beginning of the movie). I have had long hair since high school.

Should I crop it off and act my age?

11. That's a very good question.
It has been typically given that a woman should wear her hair short after a certain age, but I don't don't what that age is. I think it used to be as young as 30.

There are other variables such as how long hair affectes the look of a wonan's face as she ages.

None of this is pleasant for me to think about, and I like long hair.

But I may be in denial.

13. Hair should fit your personality, taste
and the shape of your face.

Period.

18. You make it sound easy.
I am a scientist. What do I know about taste and the shape of my face?

That's the problem.

I guess I will have to put my (figurative) face in someone else's hands.

21. I'd give it some thought
If you cut it and don't like it, it ain't like you can change it back.

3. Do you think it would be flattering to you to have it short?
I look better with short hair, even though sometimes I do let it grow out. So, short may be good for you or not. If long hair is better on you, maybe a different style.

As far as "acting your age", I don't buy into that any more. Act how you feel!!!!

P.S. A pic might help.

4. I'm a Seattle girl too
About five years ago, I went to the Bon Marche when the cosmetic section was having this thing where you could get 30 computerzied images of yourself (after having a photo taken) with "alternate" hair styles. I picked 30 short hair styles and they were all awful. Well, I should say, I looked awful. The guy doing the thing picked some others and said, I just don't have the face for short hair. But I don't think I have the face for long hair either, especially at 50.

I am not considering bald, but I gotta do something.

6. If you don't have the facial structure
DON'T DO IT.

I look terrible with short hair... it makes my face look much plumper, even plumper than when it's long and tied back.

10. Hey, sister Seattle girl!
What about something mid-range, in terms of length? That might work best for you.

Mine is pretty short:

But you might think about something like this, or a little longer (me, before haircut/color):

Just a suggestion. But I would love to see a pic of you right now, see what you look like with your current 'do.

9. Try a wig shop
You can try different colors and lengths without having to cut your hair.

12. I wouldn't do it based on age
Some people just look better with longer hair regardless of their age. If you feel like you want it short 'cause you want to try something different, are tired of dealing with long hair, or think it would look better on you, then maybe you should try it, but I wouldn't base it on age. Maybe try something middle-length and see what you think before you decide to go any shorter.

16. I'm looking at it as cost-efficient exercise
The more you cut off, the fewer times you have to get it cut.

17. Actually, it works the other way
I only get my hair cut once a year.

That's not to say I shouldn't get it cut more often, but
being so long, it's not "necessary."
