1. Who cares if it tastes like turkey |
|
The point is to find something not based on offal to eat for Thanksgiving for those of us who don't eat offal (but hey, munch down on rotting flesh if that's your thing, no, um, skin, off my nose).
PS My highly carnivorous father loves the stuff.

I'll actually be eating tofurkey for Thanksgiving this year. :-)
Still...though I yearn to truly be vegetarian, it's a hard road for me to follow. I respect those who can walk the walk.

3. Nothing you can do with Tofu can beat Fresh Turkey Roasted over Charcoal |
|
Happy Thanksgiving, carnivores and veggietarians and everyone in-between.
I think this is number 1000.

21. I know you're joking but I take offense at you calling it "rotting flesh" |
|
Just because some of us like raw meat that is cooked and seasoned, you don't have to castigate us for it. And stop calling it rotting flesh because it is not.

5. Can you tell me how it tastes? |
|
I was going to purchase the dinner at Whole Foods and it's not that expensive and it comes in it's own pans.
What does it taste like?

It really doesn't taste like turkey, but like Boca burgers, it's good in it's own way. I really can't describe the taste accurately as it's rather hard to do and I've had a couple of cocktails. ;-)

They just added an artificial wishbone to the Tofurkey... according to the box.

10. To me, most soy equivalent products |
|
are as good as or even better than what it is they're trying to imitate.
The products made by Boca (Boca Burgers, Sausages, Pizzas and Chicken Patties) are all just incredible. Also, there are Smart Dogs (the chili flavored ones are awesome), and the Italian sausages made by Yves'. TofuRella soy cheese isn't exactly the same as the dairy equivalents but is so close that when you put it on a sandwich or in a salad you would never know the difference.

The biggie for me was Soymilk... to me, it is far superior to even the richest milk... much healthier... much tastier.

I don't believe I have ever actually ate it. I have never been that interested in stuff that is a substitute for meat because I never cared for the taste of meat anyway. :puke:  :-)

19. When I Hear The Word "Tofurkey" I Think Of "Everybody Loves Raymond"... |
|
... the episode where Raymond's mom served some gelatinous looking blob that was supposed to be tofurkey.
When Brad Garrett and Ray Romano saw the 'creation'... the expression on their faces was priceless.

It was pretty funny, even though their tofurkey didn't really look like the tofurkey I've tried.
