Kids will almost always forget their little hurts if you just totally distract them with something more interesting and exciting.

My little nephew could be bawling his head off one second, but if you showed him a frog hopping across the lawn, he'd immediately start laughing. . . that was many moons ago though, he's all grown up now :(

One time my husband accidentally rolled it up in the window (thinking he was rolling up the back window) and it hurt so bad I couldn't even say anything. It was about 15 long seconds before he realized he rolled up the wrong window and that my finger was stuck in it. It hurts like hell!
