Or some random pup from the street? If it is a random pup, I think you have a new friend, and that shouldn't make you sad. Car seats can be cleaned easily.

2. No,the owner was right there and she was very apologetic |

The puppy was off leash. I had just loaded my own muddy dog into the back seat. My clothes are muddy, my car is muddy, and my house is muddy. I guess its just that kind of day.
Puppy sees open car door and says hey, lets go for a ride!

4. Aw damn, that is a bummer |

I've got four dogs, and muddy days are a pain. I'll be happy when we get the mud room done, and I can just hose the hounds off and dry them before letting them further into the house. Good luck, I hope things get better for you.

3. I had this happen once |

Wife and I were pumping gas, when we came back here's this chihuahua sitting there waiting for a ride. He had no tags, no ID...and no one at the gas station had seen him before.
We fostered him a while and then found a home for him. He was a great dog except for the whole "starting fights with our two large samoyeds and not taking a hint" thing.
