Who decided what is "proper" sex? |
|
A thread over in GD prompted this. Some religious cleric said that full nudity during sex is not only a no-no, it invalidates the union. Another cleric came back and said it wasn't so, that only sodomy wasn't allowed.
What I want to know is who decided which orafice should be used and for what? Who's to say that sodomy wasn't the way the intelligent designer planned it (or at least one of the ways)? Maybe we're supposed to have more sodomy or more oral sex at times when women are fertile?
As far as I can remember from Sunday School and from the readings of other holy texts, there's no sex manual telling two folks how to go about it.

2. And what about having the lights on? |
|
And the photographer?
I am of the opinion that whatever orifice two adults choose to use in the privacy of their own home or vehicle, they should have at it.

6. What kind of Sunday School teaches kids sexual techniques |
|
approved by biblical texts?
The clerics involve with both Islamic fundamentalists. Seeking clarity from Christians, lapsed and otherwise, Agnostics and Atheists on Islamic doctrine doesn't really seem the best way of gaining real insight.

8. I wasn't discussing only Islamic fundies, but religion in general |
|
Pastors, ministers, priests, bishops, clerics and so-forth and so-on have all launched into discussions of what the almighty made the different areas of the body for and when. Although sodomy is often the act which comes under fire, other sexual practices have also drawn ire from time to time.
Although someone from the fiction forum will probably come kick my butt for using a Dan Brown reference: "There's no fax machine in heaven." Exactly who or what told these "holy" men what was and was not acceptable between two consenting adults?

7. The clerics dream up these weird particulars, |
|
you are right to say that there is no sex manual in the Bible.
Also, the texts "condemning sodomy" in the Bible are really tracts against male to male ritual prostitution of the time.
One Lesbian theologian, Nancy Wilson, wrote that different orfices and members of the body seem to fit in different places, God loves variety. ;)
