Please pray/think good thoughts/send good wishes for my Dad... |
|
we just found out yesterday his prostate cancer has spread to his bones...this will most likely be our last holiday season with him. He is 83 and HE'S ready to go, but I just don't want him to be in pain, and I AM NOT READY!! And I am worried about my mom, not sure what she will do without him, she's getting so frail... Spent the day with them yesterday and she reminded me of Tim Conway playing an elderly man; she just shuffles along and can barely move... Anyway, I would just really appreciate your thoughts/prayers/whatever suits your beliefs... thanks alot...

4. Bless you. We are all facing it. |

I am a Boomer too (I don't have to ask; you are as well). Lost Mom in September, at 85. Think about him, think about the youngsters. They deserve the wonderful memories you have of the past. They do NOT deserve this memory of the end, unless you make it good. Be nostalgic in how you celebrate the holidays. Recall the past - for your father, for the rest of your family. Give the younger ones memories to remember. And check out the Thanksgiving Day Memorial thread on DU Lounge. Perspective. And enjoy it. You will not regret spending this quality time with him and your family. In fact, ultimately, it may in years to come be the best one you can remember. Up to you.

7. Lots of prayers coming your way |
|
My thoughts, prayers and good wishes are truly with you and your parents.
It sounds like you live close to them so that is something in your favor.
Having spent 6 months in Illinois, I live in Ca., with my Dad and Mother while he suffered thu a stroke, prostate caner, radiation treatments and then leukemia I know how hard the next months will be for you. You will need lots of support and strength to get thu this. You reach a point where you just beg God to release him from his suffering. God be with you

8. I am thinking good thoughts about all three of you. |
|
Take care of yourself. Make these last moments together something beautiful and meaningful. Do that and you and your parents are living life to its fullest, where there is not room for regret only love and peace.

10. Lost my grandpa to prostate cancer 8 years ago. |
|
Same way, it had spread to his bones. He was just 78. A very active 78, after a lifetime of farming.
I'm so sorry, grannylib. My thoughts are with you. Take care of yourself and your family.

is that this sad news will make your holidays even more precious. Enjoy your parents' company to your fullest; and though it must be difficult, try to save grieving for the time when they can no longer be with you.
I'll keep you all in my thoughts and prayers...

that the Lord will be with you and help you through this. All you can do is be there for your parents; the time you spend with them will mean so much to all of you.
