trof's trendy financial tip # 217: |
|
Stamps are now 39 cents. That's $1.17 for every 3 bills you pay by mail. Heck, that's half a gallon of gas. ;-)
Pay all your bills automatically, each month, by credit card or bank draft, after filling out a form online or on the phone. Every one of our monthly bills can be covered by one or the other. Of course, you have to have the discipline (and ability) to pay off the credit card bill every month.
We are now paying everything except our mortgage this way. Each month miz t. writes one check to Wells Fargo and one to Discover. Interestingly enough, Wells Fargo, a bleeding bank, financial institution, and credit card issuer, will not accept a credit card for mortgage payments.
Bonus: If you use a credit card with perks, you get cash back, or airline miles, or whatever. So I'm now paying most of my bills at a discount when you figure the cash back we get from Discover. I'm saving postage AND making actual cash money. Sweet. :-)
Yer welcome.

1. I pay all my bills online, through my bank. |

ANYONE can be paid this way. I don't mail anything except for the occasional non-recurring bills, like dentist or doctor bills.
My bank provides this service free. I set up the payees, and then I can set up automatic recurring payments (for things that are always the same amount, such as car loans or mortgages), and I can manually enter amounts for other bills (such as gas and electric).
