Has anyone read 'Endgame' by Scott Ritter?
It was truly shocking. When this book was written, he seemed convinced that Iraq was hiding weapons and had no intention of disarming and would become a greater threat in the future! The PNAC could easily have distributed this book as propaganda. He says repeatedly that the Iraqis lied, hid weapons, intimidated inspectors, refused to open certain sites and that he had strong intel from multiple sources and many countries regarding the WMD. He blames the failure of the inspections on Clinton, who refused to put pressure on Saddam to comply.

He argues that the Clinton administration did not take descive action to force the Iraqis to comply with the inspectors and that is why he quit UNSCOM in August 1998. Shortly thereafter, UNSCOM fell apart, Butler withdrew it and Operation Desert Fox began.

How did this Ritter become the Ritter of 2002? They sound completely opposite. I think the RWers were right about him. He changed his story 180 degrees.

This leads me to believe that perhaps Saddam did have some WMD capability, but destroyed it or sold it when the heat was on.

1. Ritter testified before Kerry's committee exactly that same way.

That's when Kerry was working with Clinton and Gore on a military strategy for Iraq in 98.

That is why it is so frustrating to see posts that describe Kerry's vote as "politically expedient" when he held the same views about Saddam and Iraq back in 98, but always wanted to use diplomacy first to get FULL, unfettered weapons inspections.

When Clinton did bomb Iraq, he just may have hit the right targets but there was no way of knowing for sure unless the inspectors were given full access.

2. Still
Kerry's position was 100x more reasonable than George 'I can't wait to drop a bomb' bush.
Bush seemed way to eager to go to war. You could just tell he gets off on it.
