Empty, empty house.
Took the dogs up to Mrs. Robb's aunt's house for the weekend, as we're leaving town. She's on 20 acres, there's plenty of other sled dogs up there, heck, they'll probably run this weekend if the snow holds.

But, man. Nothing so empty as a house when the pets are gone.

When you've got pets, you don't have to turn the TV set on when you're alone, just for the background noise.

When you've got pets, there's someone to remind you to pay attention to them.

I could go on, but instead I think I'll just look at the water bowls.

:(

3. Dog Man
without his dog is only half a man.
Sigh. No more dogs for 180.

4. When my cat Fractal died
(at the time I had no other pets), I just stopped going home. I couldn't bear the sight of her dishes and her catpost, and a house without pets is not a home. I finally had to buy a stuffed toy cat that looked a little like her so that I could even bear to sleep in that house without her.

Then I got my Yankee a few weeks later, and my life has never been the same.
