Going to Colorado for Thanksgiving |
|
Any Rocky Mountain DUers know of good places to Ski or any cool protests there for the next couple of weeks. I'm from Vermont, I don't know much about the Rocky Mountains. I'll be visiting Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, and Utah, so it's a pretty broad visit.

I'll show you some places around Denver.. I can be around on Friday.. :) (Wife has to work, and I'm on call)
I recommend skiing in Winter Park - their mountains and their operations belong to the city and county of Denver (Democratic, of course).
Breckenridge is also nice.. You can alway nag Robb if you're going to ski somewhere near Telluride.

2. Saturday, Poets Against the War in Laramie, Wyoming |
|
We're hosting PAW at Trinity, a coffeehouse downtown in the 100 block of East Grand. 8 PM. They'll be reading some stuff & we'll have our materials, buttons, etc., there to share as well as doing some readings ourselves and then open microphone.
On Sundays, we have a weekly vigil in front of the Albany County Courthouse (Grand Avenue in Laramie between 4th and 5th Streets). 6:00 PM, usually for an hour but, if it's really cold, we'll wimp out at about 30 minutes.
We may be having one of our Stand Ups (protests -- stand on a street corner with angry signs) on Friday afternoon at 4:45 PM for 1/2 an hour at the corner of 3rd and Grand (downtown Laramie). We just started those up again and I won't know for sure if we'll be doing those until after the meeting tonight.
If you come, make sure you say HI!!!!

3. That sounds sooooo cool |
|
We'll (we as in my sisters and I, all of which are as cute or cuter than me, just thought I'd throw that in, wink nudge) will be in Wyoming that night, maybe we could stop by Laramie (that's by Cheyenne right?, we're staying at the little america that night) and check it out. I'm not making any promises, though, but it sounds like fun.

4. Laramie is 45 miles west of Cheyenne |
|
Just get on I-80, right next to Little America, and head west to Laramie. It will take you 45 minutes or less, unless the summit is a snowy mess. *It showed quite a lot last weekend but none since, although what fell hasn't melted yet either.)
Anyway, directions just in case:
Go west on I-80 to the 3rd Street exit. Take 3rd Street north into town. You'll go through about 3 lights until you get to Grand Avenue (the main east-west street in town). Turn left on Grand, go 2 blocks & look for "Trinity Coffee House" on the right. It will be in the last block before you hit the railroad tracks.
It's incredibly easy to find us if you're going to be in Cheyenne. If you do come, make sure to say hi. In "real life," I'm known as Lesley. I'm female, have short dark (with lots of gray) hair, and if I'm walking, I've got crutches.
Hope to see you Saturday!
