I had one for Rodger McDaniel, a Senate candidate who lost in about 1982, on my car until we sold it in 1999. It wouldn't come off. On the other hand, I just removed the one my husband put on the car for Dave Freudenthal (who won!). It came off easily and since my husband doesn't like bumper stickers, I had to remove it to be "allowed" to put on my peace bumper stickers.
I think it's a matter of personal taste.
