because it's unchristian.
In fact, of all the states, Indiana probably has the weirdest set of Christian bizarreness. Other states are certainly far more fundy and ignorant, but Indiana has the wierd stuff, like communities that don't change their clocks because they believe clock changing is unchristian, and wanting to legally define pi as equal to 3 (at one point) and equal to 9 (at another point), for Christian reasons.
Of course they don't teach them how to hold footballs.
