No electric/heat for 17 HOURS!!!
...Due to high winds/snow last night here in Upstate NY. Of course I have electric heat in my apartment, so- brrrrrrrr!!! Power just came on a half hour ago, but- I'm still cold! Warm me up with good thoughts and enlightening messages, DU :)

1. That was one nice thing when I owned the Winnebago. Generator & propane
for when the power went out.

2. Hope you are warmer now.
I just got off the phone with my mom in Stanforville and she didn't lose power, but told me that the wind is really been bad there and it is cold. A big change from how the weather has been the past week or so. I hope your power stays on :-)

3. Slowly, but surely getting warmer
Thanks :) Yeah, last night was kinda crazy here. From what the NYSEG automated line said this morning- 21,000 homes in the Dutchess/Putnam/Westchester area lost power last night. They said that some people may have to wait until Tuesday for power to be restored. So- I should be happy mine came back on as quickly as it did.

8. Wow, if Southern Dutchess lost power
Edited on Sun Jan-15-06 08:03 PM by fight4my3sons
then my dad probably is out. He is on the Fishkill/Beacon border. When I lived in one part of Poughkeepsie we lost power all the time and the other side of the street would still have it. It was very frustrating. We were living in this barn type thing that had no insulation at the time. Now we are in Maine, living in this house with no insulation and it's 11 degrees right now. Can't wait to own again so we can hook up our wood stove!

edit for spelling

4. Take a hot shower...
It'll warm you up, and then you can get under the covers. It'll take the chill away.

5. it's a bitch when your only heat is electric
I was without heat for 36 hours over New Years. California's not quite like New York, but it was still a bitch. Can't flush the toilet either when you are a well.

6. That's no fun at all
No frozen water pipes? I remember the days of thawing water pipes with my hair dryer - I do NOT miss that!

I suggest a nice cup of hot chocolate.

7. Wow!
That's... well, that's bad. We were without power for a few days after Hurricane Wilma, but at least we could go outside without freezing to death. Get warm. :)
