1. I think Disney's kind of disowned it.
It didn't get great reviews, nobody went to see it, and it has become forgotten in the wake of Disney's post-"Little Mermaid" renaissance.

2. Too bad...it was dark for a Disney cartoon, but the animation
was very good.
I keep hoping a copy will become available someday.

loved that movie, one of my favorite disney movies

Not many people remember Secret of NIMH either, and thats probably my favorite of all time(not disney). Too bad they ruined it by making a sequel that was just god awful

6. Disney likes to put movies in "moratorum"
or whatever its called. They will advertise "last chance" to buy certain movies before they go in to vault but then they are available after five years or so
