I love it when a plan comes together... |
|
Proof that a little personalized bullshit and a bit of quick design work in Publisher can pay off: I posted a few days ago about doing some computer work at a sign company in exchange for some magnetic signs. Not only are the signs very cool (red lettering on a yellow background) but I have permission to add the company to my Satisfied Customer list!
And I've been putting up brochures on local bulletin boards (at WalMart, etc.), and as I go back later to check, I've been noticing that a fair number of the standard tear-off phone number tabs on the brochures have been taken. Today I got my first hit-- a fifteen minute hardware tutorial and some advice on installing add-ons, and it's a $20 bill in my pocket! (I LOVE when they pay cash-- NO TAX!!)
Y'know, I think there just might be something IN this work-from-home-be-your-own-boss stuff!

3. Be aware that tax preparers ask a question about this. |

The government is trying to tax it. I think you need to exchange some kind of fee for services, say $1 or something to avoid it being taxed at the rate that the IRS decides.

I'm set up to accept credit cards or checks. If they pay that way, cool beans. If one chooses to pay by cash or services, who am I to say no? And if they don't ask for a receipt, who am I to disagree?

Congrats!
You're a natural and an inspiration to us all.
I am sooooo happy for you.
Remember.....always make the customer think you have done MORE for him than he has had to pay for. It really cements business relationships.

6. Awww, you'll make me blush! |

I've been dealing one-on-one with customers in their own homes and back yards for close to two decades now-- I think I'm beginning to get the hang of it. (Used to be a grass cutter/landscaper/irrigation designer-installer-troubleshooter. When I say "back yard", I MEAN it!) ;-)

I want to learn how to do things with the computer, but I don't want to sit in a classroom twice a week and have to take tests :) I just want to do that I want to learn..
Now I need to learn how to use photoshop.. I have it and 3 others and they are too complicated for this dummy :(
