My swansong. A rant!
Yes, this is my swansong. Why? Because I suspect once admin hears about it, I will be tombstoned, but I don't care, not anymore. What I have got to say, has needed to be said for the longest time now.

I am one very bitter and angry Aussie, and it is thanks to the democrats at large and a great number of folks here on DU. You people certainly have not shown me that the democratic party truly deserves my support as a possible future citizen of the United States. All you people care about around here is getting Bush* our of office next year, no matter at what cost. Well what if that cost is at the very party you support?

You are the people I blame for so many people turning their backs on the democrats and going over to the very large green camp. You are the very people I blame for the queer community becoming rather angry with the democratic party. You are the very people I no longer consider my friends. Why? Because you would rather milk votes for you precious party which is nothing more than a sell out to the republican camp. You people do not care one lousy inch about the fact that as of today Thanksgiving eve 2003 the queer community in your country has been deemed second class citizens.

In the past week alone I have learnt a very valuable lesson in politics, and that is democrats are as conniving and ruthless and the republican party. Nader was right when he said the lesser of two evils. Only I don't really know who is more evil, the republican party which is blinded by a bible, or the democratic party which is blinded by their own hatred for fellow human beings.

Yes the constitutional amendment will pass, and you know why? Because the democrats in power will fucking turn a blind eye and bow down to King George, just like they did with the patriot act, just like they did with the resent abortion bill, just like Clinton did when he signed both DoMA and DADT. You people truly give cowards a new name.

I posted in GD earlier today, about how angry I was by people around here who deem my relationship not worthy of the same rights most of you here take for granted. Ya know what, fcuk you all. Marriage is nothing more than a special right or a special club for heterosexual assholes who believe they are above all other people.

You people claim to be the party for the people, and look at you all. What have I been hearing this past week, since the Mass. ruling approving gay marriages? "Now is not the time." "Bush* will use this as an issue next year." "This ruling will put Bush* in power for another four years." "Gays should go for civil unions and not marriage." etc, etc, etc.

All you people care about is getting Bush* out of office. You don't care that a voting base in your own party has just been deemed second class citizens, no there are more important issues to contend with, gay marriage is nothing more than a fringe issue, isn't that right?

What sickens me is admin allowed this ruthless attack on my queer brothers and sisters, why?

What sickens me is I am deemed the PC police and called a troll because I stand up to some homophobic shithead who calls lesbians "lessies." Not one other person came in my diffence.

You people are so blinded I truly feel sorry for you. You are all living in a dream world. If you think the issue of gay marriage is going to make Bush* win next year, think again, it'll be another stollen election, but no matter, the queer community are second class citizens now, because you people were to blind and too damned gutless to stand by us.

You have lost my understanding, sympathy, and respect. Keep the fuck out of my life!

1. The number one rule in politics is:
Winning is everything.

Because if you don't win...you can't change anything.

2. I feel the same about the Party as well
I blame it on the DLC which members include Gephart, Lieberman, Edwards and Kerry. They're the reasons why the Democrats are out of power because they're to scared to stand against the BCF on any of the issues because they might lose the middle. I hate these people.

tell us that getting rid of shrub shouldn't be our number one priority when you DON'T HAVE TO FUCKING LIVE HERE UNDER HIM.

I am 100 percent on your side about gay marriage and I wish like hell that it wasn't such a wedge issue but guess what - it is. How much worse do you think it'll be for you and the rest of the queet community if he spends 4 more years in office? I'll tell you how much - a whole hell of a lot worse, that's how much.

I'm sorry we're not making your issue the number 1 plank in the party platform but guess what - they aren't making my issue the focus either so get over yourself.

The first step is getting a democrat elected and then holding his feet to the fire to do what's right once he's in office. And apparently you haven't been paying a lot of attention around here because that's precisely what most of us intend to do. Get someone elected that we can work with and then force him to do the right thing. There are a thousand issues where we want to see action but they all hinge on getting that dem elected first.

5. Geez...seems like you've just about lost it.
Well, good luck wherever you go. As a gay male, raised fundamentalist christian in Texas, I can say that I disagree with most of what you've ranted about. The key difference is that I believe in and defend your right to a different opinion, and to your liberties. Having been intimately involved with Republicans for many years, I can tell you that they do not share this perspective.

If you do choose to move to the US, I suggest you look seriously at what part of the country you will choose to live in. There are many different cultures here, and you may find one that suits you. But our strength IS our diversity, and it always has been.

One more thing: politics is not the same in the US as in parliamentary democracies. If you really want to move here, we could use some people who don't hate others who aren't like them and who have an open mind.

Good luck again!

7. I'm stunned and disappointed
and I'm not sure how to respond. I guess I'm one of the people who've let you down because I'm a gay American male and I disagree with most everything you say.

Still hope you come here, but I'm not sure you'd be happy because you pretty much see America as it really is. Sorry to disappoint...

This is inflammatory, at best.

10. I didn't come to your defense because I wasn't there.
Probably a lot of really great people at DU weren't there. I tend to stay out of a lot of threads that don't look promising to me. I understand that you're mad, and I can relate to to the things you're mad about, but don't judge all DUers by some flame fests in GD. If you're angry about some objectionable positions that particular people have taken, even many particular people, please talk specificly about them. "You people" is pretty bad form.
