1. not sure
but I emphatically do NOT believe in the god as written about in the bible.

A jealous god? I can't even respect that, let alone worship.

2. I always thought
the idea that God, if she exists, wanted us to worship her, was pretty silly.

3. probably
it might be ok to create an animal to worship you, but I'd think that would get old and boring fairly quick. Maybe that's why she doesn't slap down some of the worst of us - she got bored ages ago and moved on to something more amusing.

4. I always thought
that she wanted us to love her, and by extension, all of her creations. Being infinite and eternal must get mighty dull with no one else to share it with.

6. Absolutely.
The God I know is all about peace, love, and forgiveness-not smiting and condemning.

10. Then There Must Be More Than One God...
... because the god worshipped by fundies and repukes isn't the one you talk about. It's not the one that's described in the bible either. Hmmm.

It gets so confusing.

14. Yes
I believe in a higher spirit, if you want to call it god that is fine by me. I am what most would call a liberal christian. I believe in a god that is fueled by love, knowledge, and peace to be shared by all people. I believe that in order to believe in this god you don't have to attend a church, you don't have to pray, you don't have to feel obligated to anything, etc. It's just a spirit that is there, wherever, inside of you even, that can guide you or help you along the way.

17. God
God is a sum of all the universe's energy. This is my definition and perhaps, like the collection of billions of our neurons, it has found sentience. And perhaps not. Regardless, as energy, this God is responsible for the creation of the universe whether or not it "wanted" to.

21. God is like Barbra Streisand before James Brolin, all powerful, but
insecure. Oh, he's been a rock.

That's why God requires prayer.

Can't take credit for this wonderful analogy!

26. Not in the way most people understand it.
It's a bit of a confusing story. I'm somewhat of an atheist - 'cept I believe in some kind of God-like force, not really in religion. I don't know what you'd call that. And, I'm also a reform Jew, which makes it even more confusing.

The christian god seems to be inordinately fond of beetles and idiots; for he certainly made enough of them.

But as it stands, I'm an atheist. Bush has nothing to do with that, though.
