1. Talking about Politics, Religion and Sex causes indigestion.
Not good at the dinner table.

Great eating can forgive all.

Instead, I'll read. Hmmm. Dude, Where's My Country?

2. Fortunately my entire family is as liberal as me
And this year we actually didn't invite guests that we KNEW to be Bushlovers...we figured we'd only antagonize them....besides, Bushlovers hate handouts.

4. no political talk that I heard
Of course they could all have decided to plan for the theocracy without including me any more, but there's a new baby in that (already baby-laden) part of the family, so that took up a lot of energy and discussion time.

On the whole, a pretty pleasant day, actually.

5. Both of my Grandparents are Democrats so...
It was alot of fun to make fun of the Pigman and a local anti-porn fundy that was busted for solicitation of a HIV+ prostitute. My parents felt a little out of the loop (repugs) but everyone else had a good time:)

6. We bashed the heck out of *
My whole family are working-class Democrats, so we had a ball! Gran had a glass of wine too much, though, and her language when referring to * became a bit 'un-ladylike'. :P

7. No political talk at my dinner
It was my sister and all of her husband's extended family and I'm not even sure of what most of their party affiliations are, although I can sniff a couple conservatives by the conversations.

There were 15 adults and 4 kids. The conversation was mostly family talk and catching up on things going on with us over the past year. Some were from out of town that we have not seen for 3 or 4 years. I've been acquainted with most of them for almost 10 years now and the get together 3 or 4 time a year is always very pleasant and enjoyable. My sister's husband’s family is a very close and supportive family.

Was actually quite pleasant if you could tolerate the 2 and 3 year olds running wild and getting into everything constantly because their parents were not watching them. It took them dragging cans and bottles out of the coolers about a dozen times and dropping a bottle on the floor and breaking one and cutting bare feet on broken glass for mom and dad to start paying attention.

But don't get me wrong, they were cute kids - they didn't ruin the day.

8. My dad
My dad used to be hard Republican, but since he's a mechanic and has seen his real earnings go into the toilet, that is changing.

9. "Sand Niggers"...
My girlfriend's sister actually said that. And her "just waiting for his 'Greetings!' letter" nephew wasn't much better....

Upset her pretty much...

10. Well Oliver the rooster died yesterday,
so somehow the conversation was about fowl, not only the one on the table but the pets in the chicken yard. Daughter and son-in-law decided keeping chickens is too hard when they lose one. Foxes got another one last month. The cat got one of the doves that escaped the cote last week. Well, no wonder they make pets out of all of them. I think the birds are dirty and messy, especially the chickens, so I won't miss them.

I prefer my birds wild and free. I'll buy my eggs at the farmer's market. I hope they don't read this. I don't tell anyone out loud how I feel about the birds.

11. Pretty mellow for us also.
We ate at my parents' house. Aunt Ruby and Auntie Del did most of the cooking. I did some of the last minute stuff and cleaned up after dinner. I can't cook so this is the best way to do it. Mom is so weak she couldn't participate in the preparation at all and she didn't eat very much. Dad had a great time BSing with my uncle and a friend of theirs.

The rest of us just chatted pleasantly like people who've known each other over 65 years tend to do (them, not me). It was wonderful!

12. in my all liberal family
talk was generally good. Grandmother and grandfather canceled their subscriptions to AARP as did my mother (just over 50). Not very hopeful about the chances of defeating bushie-boy and the surprise visit to Iraq left many asking "How much is this little 3 hour trip going to cost", "wonder if he'll get a new action figure out of this" and "Wonder if he feels so good about saying 'Bring em on' now"
