term paper on civil liberties after 9-11
I know what to say but need help on the organization and what points to touch. I will start with the Patriot Act passage (all the good stuff in there), FBI visiting people for having anti-Bush pictures, Padilla arrest. What else ?

The thesis will be that we've survived for 200+ years without all these new "anti-terror" laws and that those who give liberty for safety ....

any help will be met by many thanks.

1. Just hand in 20 pages of blank paper,
with just your name and title. Call it conceptual art, and that instead of writing about the loss of civil iberties, you symbolically represented it, better than words could ever say, by handing in blank sheets.

2. there is also
Edited on Thu Nov-27-03 10:39 AM by Eric J in MN
There is also:

the prosecution of the organization Greenpeace, the prosecution of attorney Lynne Stewart, the FBI asking local police to report any "possibly illegal acts" by protestors to their counter-terrorism unit, the treatment of protestors in Miami this month, and much more.

It isn't just a matter of new laws, but how the Bush administration applies old laws against dissenters.

5. check out the progressive online and go to the section called the new
mccarthyism watch. lots of great examples there.

also check out the provisions of patriot act 2-- even more chilling, that and the one called victory.
