Tell us what you're thankful for!
20 things for which I'm thankful:

  1. My life
  2. My family and friends
  3. Food and drink
  4. Clothing
  5. A home
  6. Air
  7. Water
  8. Good health
  9. Electricity
  10. A computer (and the Internet)
  11. A TV
  12. A country in which we can speak out against our leaders
  13. The people who fought - and, in some cases, died - for our rights, from the Founding Fathers to our military men and women in 2003
  14. The Democratic Party
  15. Braun, Clark, Dean, Edwards, Gephardt, Kerry, Kucinich, Lieberman, and Sharpton
  16. Durbin, Feingold, Clinton, Graham, Levin, Stabenow, Corzine, Dayton, Jeffords, and everyone else
  17. The lives of Katharine Hepburn, Gregory Peck, David Brinkley, Bob Hope, Barry White, Johnny and June Carter Cash, John Ritter, Fred Rogers (a.k.a. "Mr. Rogers), Daniel P. Moynihan, and Maynard Jackson
  18. My dog, Bonnie, who died in June, for sharing eleven years with me
  19. The Columbia astronauts (lest we forget), for sacrificing their lives to further the cause of exploration
  20. DU!

2. Well, evilDUers are on my list
Edited on Thu Nov-27-03 11:10 AM by havocmom
They have restored my sense of hope for this nation and the world.

Here is the message I sent to friends. (I count many of the DU family in that column. The fact that we have never met is just a matter of fate and geography. Kindered spirits find each other's light.)

So many bad things this year, yet the good is still to numerous to list, when one thinks about it.

But we would be remiss to not mention some blessings at the top of our list of what we are thankful for.

Topping my list:
Friends and family, near and far, old and new, who help us laugh, hold us when we cry and share our days whether present or not. They are our strength and greatest joy in life. They are the reason for hope for the world.

We are sad at the passing of some but buoyed by the realization of the impact they had on us all. No one is really lost to us when we have integrated parts of their being into our own. We are thankful for the time together and the life memories which cannot be taken from us.

It is bliss to see our friends who struggle and work so hard realize a good outcome and a brighter world for their efforts. I am grateful for all that my friends have been able to accomplish. And I am grateful for what these efforts will mean to the future.

There is much to worry about in this nation, but there are lights on in windows across the country and pebbles being dropped in ponds everywhere. The light will help each of us to remain hopeful and the ripples can become waves which might change the tide and restore a nation to its people. I am thankful for the courage, honor and dignity of most Americans.

There is bounty and grace. The sun came up this morning and most people dwell in peace and safety. There is wisdom and strength to correct what is wrong in the nation, and I pray we have the courage and love to use that force for the good of all.

I am thankful for the resources which sustain our needs and hope we can work towards a better understanding and husbanding of those resources that they will sustain our progeny.

I am thankful for the variety of views and perspectives in this land. While making us a contentious bunch of rabble, it is still our greatest strength as a people.

And I am thankful for the laughter of people, the questions of small children, and the kisses of dogs.

Happy Thanksgiving! Tis good to stop and acknowledge the harvest.

I am also thankful for all that is good in my life and know that no matter what I perceive as bad, it is still a very charmed life that I live.

4. Life
Sorry to get all religious on you, but knowing how easily life can be extinguished, I'm quite appreciative of being alive.
