A Norman Rockwell Thanksgiving... Not At My House!!

We're cooking a whole bird... but it will be pre-sliced for the buffet.



I've ALWAYS liked the sentimental image of the centerpiece turkey that gets carved before everyone's eager eyes... but pre-carving it just makes so much more sense at our house.

4. ROFL.... that would be my ex-husbands family

we used to suffer through the anual family fights they called holidays. Now I don't have to put up with any of it. YAY!!!

7. This year...

my daughter decided she wanted to have Thanksgiving at her house...great, right?...wrong! Yesterday she announced that she had no intentions of sticking her hands...and I quote..."up a turkey's butt". Mother to the rescue.

6. I carve in the kitchen.

If I can't con somebody else into it.
I need working room and then go through 3 or 4 knives before I find the one that's working right that day.
I should just light a couple of cherry bombs and put them in the bird.
The results would be about the same.

8. I carve by cutting off the entire breast

then slicing each breast while off the bird. Every time I try to do this at my parents house I get yelled at. Same as when I try to put some actual seasoning in the gravy and stuffing. Anything but salt and pepper is against the rules at my parents house, and yes they're Republicans.
