to pretend like he was crying . . . whatever - so he started crying before he came out now while he was talking to them. b.s.
If this was suppose to be low-key for security, why were reporters invited. This was about publicity, not about thanking the troops. I like the comment of him not visiting the dead troops only those that are still of use to him.

*#%@ him! http://www.nytimes.com/2003/11/27/international/27WIRE-BUSH.html?hpAt that point, Bush emerged wearing a military jacket and loud cheering began. "I was just looking for a warm meal somewhere," Bush said. "Thanks for inviting me to dinner ... I can't think of a finer group of folks to have Thanksgiving dinner with than you all."

but think about this. Only Fox News is covering this story? That means Rove fed it to them. What if Bush is not in Iraq? What if this is all a gimmick and he's on some airstrip in Texas?
On edit: sorry about copying someone else--read your post after I wrote mine. This does seem like a 'wag the dog' type scenario, doesn't it? Bush is too chickenshit to go to Iraq, unless Rove forced him to for his re-election campaign.

8. Acually, a surprise visit makes most sense security wise |
|
Edited on Thu Nov-27-03 12:59 PM by ProudGerman
If they had announced this before hand, every Iraqi with access to a surface to air missle would have been looking skyward for the mother of all targets. I expect him to bugger out before too long so as not to provide any chance of anyone organizing a chance at a shot on his departure.
But yes, this is pure campaign politics. This bastard won't even go salute the flag draped coffins as they come back home, let alone "hug the families". The soldiers are only useful to him alive.

and being reported from from Iraq. Video of his surprise trip expected shortly, so I guess he is really there.
Yeah - he knows how to make a show of it. has to make up for his "Mission Accomplished" fiasco. Make some new footage for campaign purposes, at taxpayer expense, since "Mission Accomplished" didn't work out. :eyes:

|
"Is he wearing the parachute harness that shows off his balls? Hillary doesn't have any." "Au contraire", I said. "I think Hillary has a bigger set than most of her peers in the senate."
And I'm speaking figuratively as in "courage" and I mean it as a high compliment to Sen. Clinton and let's don't get a...you know...going here. Thank you.

Steps out from behind a curtain. <Gomer voice> "Surprise, surprise." Oh...now a reporter FINALLY makes the connection between his* visit and Hillary's. paraphrase: "This COULD be seen as upstaging her. More than a little ironic that he has come here and upstaged her." Reply from anchor: "Msaybe there's a little political stuffing in that turkey." Well, no shit. :grr:
