6. No, I do not but if yahoo complied re: their search data, can I really
trust them not to do the same with their email data? I mean, there's nothing too exciting but its just creepy and a violation of trust. I just busted the power company for sharing my email -- resulting in a spam bombardment. I am so fucking sick of the 1984 world we are living in.

Google seems to be fighting for our privacy rights, in terms of searching.

10. I said it before. The gov't. is broke and mining our data to track our $
inthe hopes of stumbling on tax fraud or illicit gains.

16. Aren't most of us guilty of tax fraud to some degree? Most all that
has filed an income tax return has done little white ambiguous lies.

If they want ya, they'll get you one way or the other.

11. A company providing you with free service is less likely to care about
your privacy than your typical ISP, or failing that, your own domain (which can be had very cheaply).

Invent your own domain, and get web- and SMTP-based e-mail. Since they'd have nothing to do with your web searches, they couldn't give up that info.

Oh, yeah. Be sure to write Yahoo, and tell them exactly why you're dumping them and how much you're going to spend with another company.

I converted recently, and I've been very happy. AND they denied the request for records, unlike Yahoo.
