How did you handle it?
I prefer mine with crispy bacon and Miracle Whip with toasted wheat bread.

(I'm sure I'm mangling some spelling here):
• Ciabatta bread • Olive-oil mayo (homemade if you have time) • Neuskes smoked bacon, cooked crisp but not burnt • Heirloom tomatoes • Boston lettuce

16. OK... I've had that whole shebang once. But it was good! |
|
:D
Actually, you can grow/bake this stuff yourself (except the bacon) and it doesn't cost much. Heirloom tomatoes grown in one's backyard are only a few cents more per tomato than regular ones, and are far less than the chemically treated baseballs at the supermarket.
The bacon only costs maybe $1-$2 per pound more than the regular bacon, but you need less of it.
But, yeah, a plain old, wheat/iceberg/oscar meyer/hellmans BLT can be a very good thing. One thing I will NOT compromise on is tomatoes -- I really don't eat too many out of season. I got spoiled and haven't looked back.

Crispy, fatty bacon. Mayo. On toasted, sliced french bread. With a cup or so of spring salad mix. Yum!

not toasted, and with those wonderful caraway seeds... :9
Oh yeah...it must have mayo, and the tomatoes should come straight from the garden, if possible!

21. Crispy bacon, of course. |

What many sandwich shops pretend not to remember is that bacon is supposed to make noise when you eat it. Why, oh why does it take an act of Congress to get it cooked all the way?
