I complained about my neighbors five minutes ago
I wonder how long it will take for anything to happen. They've got their music booming so loudly that my floor is vibrating and my windows are rattling. The complaint gets faxed by the person minding the store to the owner, then the owner will call the idiots next door.

2. Well, they're still booming away
My husband, in all his maturity, is now hooking up a huge speaker and pointing at the front door. This is gonna get ugly.

3. Why not just talk to them?
Edited on Sat Jan-21-06 01:28 PM by henslee
civilly of course. Why would they care about your husband booming music out the door/window?

4. We have a history of problems with these people
Cops have been called on them more than once at obnoxious hours for the music. Management here refuses to do anything about them. However, they don't like us, and enforce the rules on us.

14. You are going to have to move. I've been through that scenario 3 times -
if I wanted to keep any semblance of sanity I had to move. In the long run its better than keeping up on the ongoing battle. And the people who are the problem are the very ones you can never reason with. Good luck!

5. Why not knock on the door
And say, "Hey, could you turn the music down a bit?"

Unless your neighbors are the Piranha Brothers, that seems like the most sensible thing to do.

Good luck with that. I will recline here in my little cabin in the woods and count my blessings.

18. I envy you. That has always been my dream.
To live in a cabin in the mountains in the woods. My sister lives in the woods in the mountains just above Ellijay, Georgia. I could have bought there also, but I would have had too long of a commute to work. And driving the Interstates going south toward Atlanta is hell.

20. I invited the neighbors over
to see how my plates vibrated due to how loud their music was. They were a teeny bit better after that - turned the bass down in relation to how loud all else was - but then turned everything up.

Believe it or not what changed things - was completely unrelated. Was going out of town for a week and asked if they wanted my paper (rather than putting it on do not deliver for the week). Broke the ice - later on they were much more responsive neighbors.

10. I have the same problem. Luckily my neighbors from hell are moving Feb. 1
because of all the complaints I and other neighbors have made against them to the manager of the mobile home park where I live. They blast their Latin music and it drowns out my TV. They were parking in my yard and have no respect for anyone's property. Then the asshole neighbor pulled up a small tree on the side of my house and planted an artificial tree. When I told him that that was my property, he said no, it was his. Well, the management straightened him out on that after I put a wire fence between my house and his with "No Trespassing" signs posted.

Many people on this forum bash we mobile home dwellers and call us "white trash." But I live in a mobile home park which is very strictly managed. All the homes are in tip-top shape because the management will not allow anyone to let their home to look run down. And if you have a complaint about a neighbor, the management will come down hard on them.

And, hooray, the park manager informed me that my neighbors from hell will be moving on Feb. 1.

11. The "trailer-trash" comments irritate me too
I'm not sure how some people can reconcile their compassion for the poor displaced by Hurricane Katrina and their disdain for people who live in a mobile home but that kind of "progressive" I can do without. I've lived in a trailer and I've been so poor I had to chop up an old bureau to burn in my woodstove one winter and to suggest it may be because I'm some sort of backwoods, inbred, lazy, incestuous piece of trash is pretty damned insulting. It's akin to Reagan's myth of the "welfare queen" and IMO has no place in a forum like this.

12. It bugs me because I live in a mobile home by choice.
Edited on Sat Jan-21-06 02:16 PM by RebelOne
My home is completely paid for and I only pay lot rent of $300 a month which includes water and garbage pickup. I have a decent salary and live quite comfortably. Many people do not understand that we who live in mobile homes are not all beer-swilling, foul-mouthed, ignorant redneck Republicans. Most of my neighbors are older single or retired people or young couples with children who cannot afford to pay high mortgage payments.

19. My neighbors on one side don't blast their music, but they DO scream
fight, yell, cuss at their 3-year old daughter, and act like complete assholes.

I found out yesterday that only one person is on the lease for that apartment, at least according to the management.

The dude on the other side of me is loud at times, but most of the time a very good neighbor, so no complaints.

23. Well, it seems to be over now
I had to log off to close myself in the bedroom for eardrum protection. Either the park owner never called them and told them to turn it down, or she did, and they ignored her. So, for an hour or more, my husband blasted Lords of Acid out the front door. They, in turn, cranked their music up louder, and it just kept goiong. They finally left, ending the Speaker Wars.

25. Have almost no neighbors...
On one side they're gone most of the time. In front of us is just a lady and she keeps to herself, other neighbor's house burned down and we don't expect to see them for a while and the rest are above us on a hill.

Another plus...we live on a dead end street :) Noisiest house on the street is...well...us.

My husband left, and there's somebody there now, booming to their little heart's content.
