The Capitol Steps theatre group (political humour, parodies)
Edited on Thu Nov-27-03 09:34 PM by LeftPeopleFinishFirs
Does anyone else know this fantastic theatre group? While I was in DC, I had the opportunity to see them perform, and they were great! They do a lot of satire, it's mainly parodies of famous songs. I encourage all of you, since I know how interested in politics we all are- to check them out for a laugh or two. And check out their CD "Caught Between Iraq and a Hard Place".

In addition to the other stuff on their website, you should all definitely check out Lirty Dies: Maddam and Yubble Doo found here...
http://www.capsteps.com/lirty/

"Lirty Dies are what you get when you mix your basic national scandal with word-initialization-rejuxtaposition closely following the underlying precepts of harmony, alliteration and innuendo. Lirty Dies follows a great political tradition: We're not quite sure what we're saying; you're not quite sure what you're hearing. "

Anyway, just some cool political humour for those interested!

Peace.
Maggie

OMG Maggie thats funny, I remember during the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal my dad got me a tape of this, although I like Clinton then as I still do I laughed my ass of, oh this should be even better with Bush. I think he got it because they came to the hotel he was working at the time. Oh and you spelt humor the british way lol I noticed.

This flash animation was the the first I saw of them. I thought they were slightly RW - in a funny way.

3. Actually
I saw them perform and a lot of the sketches poked fun at the right wing, I think maybe that on a few songs they come across poking fun at the left... but for the most part it was very anti-Bush, the performance I saw.
