My Thanksgiving dinner with the Kucinich interns! |
|
I just got back from the most incredible Thanksgiving I've ever had.
I called my friend Elizabeth to see what she was doing for the evening....I thought maybe we could watch a movie together or something (my wife/daughter are in Pittsburgh). Elizabeth used to work in the Kucinich National Headquarters, and she told me that she was about to head up to Cleveland to "the intern house".
DUers who met me in Washington DC will remember the lovely Elizabeth as being with me that day.
Eight of Kucinich's intenrns live together in a house in Lakewood, Ohio, and they were having dinner together with several other friends. So I happily drove up to meet Elizabeth and off we went.
These people are the most amazing group of people you could EVER want to spend a holiday with....visiting for the day were also "Steps For Peace", a group of people walking across the country to promote peace and DKs candidacy (I had met them in my hometownm Monday, so this was a nice mini-reunion for us). You can read about them on DKs website at www.kucinich.us
Also along for the evening was DKs scheduler, his Ohio co-coordinator (and godson), and a few volunteers.
Dinner was amazing, the conversation was fabulous, and the entire evening was worthy of the highest praise. They gave me plenty of ideas for the campaign and I signed up a few more volunteers while I was there.
Also, we each told a story as to why we have found ourselves in the place we are now. I told my Ohio State/Turn Your Back On Bush story.
Words cannot describe how happy I was to among these people. It was one of those times where you never want to go home again. I'm looking forward to seeing them all again soon (maybe I'll join them tomorrow at a DK rally in Cleveland).
Any DK fans who have seen the "Adopt An Intern" program at www.kucinich.us and were wondering about it....adopt one! They were all so wonderful (I'm going to donate a few bucks to adopt Erin next week).
Scuse me while I kiss the sky.

Vegetable soup, turkey breast (which didn't get touched much due to a high number of vegans), stuffing, a couple of varieties of salad, pumpkin bread, homemade pies, and a glass of chardonnay.

9. How could you forget the spuds? |
|
That's the best part!!! Well, besides the stuffing, the turkey, the cranberry sauce, and the sweet potatoes/yams. Heck, I love it all.

3. What a wonderful experience! |
|
Glad you were able to spend TG with people to inspire you and most likely inspired by you in return. Sure beats eating alone, eh? Thanks for sharing.
