Obviously, he didn't know where Air Force One was headed.

So...how did they trick him?

They said that they were going to fake another event. He still believes he flew to a soundstage in a remote part of Texas. Oh sure, they originally told him he would actually be going to Iraq but the story had to be changed to get him out of a locked bathroom.
