Superstars of Christmas! 1995

I really hate all the usual Christmas stuff, so that’s why I especially like this CD. I'm playing it full blast as I write this.

I started to give you all the songs on this CD but screw that. Here are the best ones. The other songs I skip anyway.

Paul McCartney – Wonderful Christmastime

John & Yoko/ The Plastic One Band – Happy Xmas (War is Over) – (This is a timely song – listen to it now)

Diana Ross - Silent Night (no one else does this song the justice that Diana Ross does)

Jon Secada – O Holy Night (This is my ABSOLUTE favorite of the whole CD – (the way he sings this will ROCK your SOUL!!)

The Beach Boys – Little Saint Nick

Why do I still listen to this? I don't listen to half of the music on this CD?

I think it's because of of the John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and the Jon Secada song that just SENDS me that draws me back to this CD every year. And of course the Diana Ross version of Silent Night is nothing to scoff at.

5. Ahhh its snazzy cheesy 80's pop Music at its best !
Wham - Last Christmas
Chorus:
Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day, You gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special

Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day, You gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special

Once bitten and twice shy
I keep my distance, but you still catch my eye
Tell me baby do you recognize me?
Well, it's been a year, it doesn't surprise me

(Happy Christmas!) I wrapped it up and sent it
With a note saying "I Love You" I meant it
Now I know what a fool I've been
But if you kissed me now I know you'd fool me again

Chorus:
Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day, You gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special

Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day, You gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special

(Oooh, Oooh Baby)

A crowded room, friends with tired eyes
I'm hiding from you and your soul of ice
My God I thought you were someone to rely on
Me? I guess I was a shoulder to cry on
A face on a lover with a fire in his heart
A man undercover but you tore me apart Oooh Oooh
Now I've found a real love you'll never fool me again

Chorus:
Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day, You gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special(special)

Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day, You gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special(special)

A face on a lover with a fire in his heart
(Gave you my heart)
A man undercover but you tore me apart
Maybe, Next year
I'll give it to someone, I'll give it to someone special
special-someone-someone

I'll give it to someone, I'll give it to someone special
who'll give me something in return
I'll give it to someone
hold my heart and watch it burn
I'll give it to someone, I'll give it to someone special
I've got you here to stay
I can love you for a day
I thought you were someone special
gave you my heart
I'll give it to someone, I'll give it to someone
last christmas I gave you my heart
you gave it away
I'll give it to someone, I'll give it to someone

12. kaaza it up, its quite a catchy number
the same cannot be said of their 1992 remake, with altered lyrics that went... a little something... like this:

Scientific community is up in arms.
Up in arms. Up in arms.
The scientific community is up in arms.
Dog tissue was used for reconstructive surgery.
Dog tissue was used for plastic surgery.

He was known as Santa Dog since he escaped on Xmas day.
Known as Santa Dog since he escaped on Xmas day.
He escaped on Xmas day.

Bing bing bing bong bong bong. Where are your dogs?
Bing bing bing bong bong bong. Where are your dogs?
Bing bing bing bong bong bong. Where are your dogs?

Human growth hormone was injected into the dog.
The doggie was injected with human growth hormone.
Maybe it was infected by a deadly virus known as the Jesus bug.

The future has no place for this. Doggie must be gone.
The future has no place for this. Doggie must be gone.
Has no presents in the future. Has no presents in the future.

Bing bing bing bong bong bong. Where are your dogs?
Bing bing bing bong bong bong. Where are your dogs?

Now he has become a symbol for the animal groups.
Yes he has become a symbol for the animal groups.
Symbol for the animal animal animal groups, is Santa Dog.

Animal groups have joined the search they look for Santa Dog.
Some say he now has reached human size and walks on his hind legs.
Some say he's reached human size and walks on his hind legs.
Some say he's reached human size and walks on his hind legs.
He walks on his hind legs.
He walks just like you and me. He walks like you and me.
He walks... he walks... some say he walks...
As the search continues Ugly humans stay at home.
Ugly humans are staying at home.
Ugly humans are staying at home in record numbers.

Bing bing bing bong bong bong show us your ugly.
Bing bing bing bong bong bong show us your ugly.
Bing bing bing bong bong bong where are your ugly?

14. I have that old Phil Spector Christmas Album
with Darlene Love, the Ronettes et al. It's a great one.

A Christmas album that is really laid back that I listen too year aft year is Paul Winter's Wintersong. It's New Age and just beautiful, instrumental, upbeat but not too much. Funny thing is I knew nothing about Paul Winter when I bought it, I fell in love with the adorable little girl on the cover of the album.

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000000UA/qid=1070027624/sr=2-1/ref=sr_2_1/103-6516594-1805431

I looked these up on Amazon for your convenience, I don't think I bought them on Amazon, I don't really remember.

It's a local group since the 80's and I think they went mainstream. They did instumental Xmas music and I listen to a couple of their CD's every year. They have a couple very powerful xmas songs.

Edited on Fri Nov-28-03 11:37 AM by supernova
Boy, I love that CD! It's very baroque (I don't mean period; I mean heavy, ornate and lush). They're my favorite new xmas artists.

Also, nobody but nobody beats the Vince Garaldi Trio (Charlie Brown).

Trans-Siberian Orchestra does a version of "Carol of the Bells" that should be heard by all. It rocks so hard, it's completely satisfying. They play it on our local rock station every year. Love that!

And for another mood, the Charlie Brown CD is tops.

I'm a bit eclectic in my musical tastes. I also enjoy "A French Christmas" cd (Amazon has it). Very pretty.

And anything by Dean Martin is fun.

I missed his special last night (CRAP!), but I'm getting one of his CDs this year, prolly the new one. I like jazzy standards, and he's fun.

Gonna try to search out the CD you talked about, O Holy Night is quickly becoming one of my faves, and I've always liked Secada's voice. Harry does it on his first Christmas CD...I'm sure lots of other folks have done it too.

When I was younger, it was too "slow" and "boring"...but it has really grown on me. One of the last years of the NBC Tree Lighting specials, I saw....Jewel maybe? singing it on the roof of...somewhere, hehehe. But it had such a reverential feel to it, it has been one of my favorites ever since. I hope you share your version with us!

26. My fave
Artist : Pogues
Album: Assorted Songs without album
Song : Fairy Tale Of New York

It was Christmas Eve babe
In the drunk tank
An old man said to me, won't see another one
And then he sang a song
The Rare Old Mountain Dew
I turned my face away
And dreamed about you

Got on a lucky one
Came in eighteen to one
I've got a feeling
This year's for me and you
So happy Christmas
I love you baby
I can see a better time
When all our dreams come true

They've got cars big as bars
They've got rivers of gold
But the wind goes right through you
It's no place for the old
When you first took my hand
On a cold Christmas Eve
You promised me
Broadway was waiting for me

You were handsome
You were pretty
Queen of New York City
When the band finished playing
They howled out for more
Sinatra was swinging,
All the drunks they were singing
We kissed on a corner
Then danced through the night

The boys of the NYPD choir
Were singing "Galway Bay"
And the bells were ringing out
For Christmas day

You're a bum
You're a punk
You're an old slut on junk
Lying there almost dead on a drip in that bed
You scumbag, you maggot
You cheap lousy faggot
Happy Christmas your arse
I pray God it's our last

I could have been someone
Well so could anyone
You took my dreams from me
When I first found you
I kept them with me babe
I put them with my own
Can't make it all alone
I've built my dreams around you
If you find errors in those lyrics, email us the right version

I saw a commercial to this effect, a week ago I flipped over there.. I found it to be kind of strange on November 20 or so,LOL, but interestingly, it's kind of cool in a very cheesy way.

I don't know how they're making money off of it, or what's going to happen in January....

flipped over to holiday music for about 3 years now. This year it was even earlier... the first of November.

For Local NCers it's 93.9 FM SUNY

They'll go back to regular format after New Year's. It is kinda nice though. I can listen when I want to and turn to another station when I have had enough. I don't get sick of certain songs (barking jingle bells) that way. ;-)

Lady! I had to listen to the grocery store version yesterday morning to pick up kitty treats.

I always take on the call to "what do you need at the last minute" before I go to my sister's on Thanksgiving dinner, so I had to listen to the grocery store shit again.

On the way back home, I had to get my Diet Pepsi, and had to listen to the grocery store version of xmax music AGAIN.

So, I dragged out my OWN shit! Because I thought it was time!

LOL!

Sorry!
