you still probably wouldn't even be halfway near the numbers that Wilt Chamberlin claimed!

|
My mother was in college at North Dakota State University. Wilt was with the Glodetrotters then I believe. My mother met him after the game and he asked her out. She refused, but had a story to tell the rest of her years!

As a Laker fan I admire his talent. His personal life is his wife's concern - kinda like Bill and HIllary.

I wasn't sure at first, but the more I heard the more she just got more than she bargained for - that's the nicest way I can say what I'm thinking.
However, he should have been in that situation in the first place.. that was DUMB.

19. My two Wilt Chamberlin stories |
|
First, it was a hot summer day, I was walking into a gourmet Italian grocery with my visiting parents, in Santa Moncia, CA. I almost ran into the biggest black guy I had ever seen, who was walking out when I was walking in. I seemed to be staring at his bare navel. He wore no shirt or shoes, but apparently got service in the store. As I craned my neck back, way back to see the face of this very tall guy, I realized I was looking at Wilt Chamberlin.
A year or two later, I went out for seafood for some friends at Gladstones For Fish, a famous seafood place on the edge of Malibu. Chamberlin came to the restaurant so often that he had his own special parking place by the door for his Lamborghini. I had to go over and take a look at the car, of course.
When I looked into the driver's side, I saw that the expensive contour drivers seat had been taken out, and old floral sofa cushions had been substituted, like something one would find in a thrift shop. Chamberlin was driving his Lamborghini while lying on old sofa cushions.
and then there was the time I got stuck behing O.J. in his Ferrari Testarossa on Wilshire Boulevard ....

20. I'll Admit. That's Pretty Amazing! |
|
And, they won the game. So, it wasn't all for the stats.
Of course, if they want to win, they might need him to shoot 46 times a game, every game. Because the rest of that team can be summed up in two words: Not good. (Don't nobody guard nobody on that team.) The Professor

22. 81 points and TWO assists (I looked it up) |
|
Typical Kobe game -- except for the points. John Meanwhile, the Pistons are 33-5 and probably won't have a single All-Star game starter.

And he shot 46 times and dished twice. Not that impressive to me.

Thing is, to get an assist, the other guy has to make the shot.

26. A bit of trivia about Chamberlain's 100-point game |
|
Edited on Mon Jan-23-06 06:49 PM by Oeditpus Rex
•He didn't get any sleep the night before. (Yes, sex was part of the reason.)
•Chamberlain, one of the worst foul shooters in NBA history (51 percent lifetime), went 28 for 32 from the line that night. From the floor, he was 36 for 63.
•He got 31 points in the fourth quarter.
•He averaged 50.4 points per game that season.
•Final score, believe it or not: Philadelphia 169, New York 147.
Edit: Oops. Didn't mean to reply to my own post.

It just doesn't impress me. Kobe doesn't impress me. I can't stand him or the way he plays basketball.

And it's the 'kick 'em while they're down' mentality?
 :D
I find it funny to be honest with you. Not all Laker fans are fair weather fans. I've been a fan since the early 70s and have ridden the roller coaster with them. Lots of success, lots of idiots and lots of not so great seasons. That's the name of the game.

33. Nope -- not that at all. I live in Los Angeles and got so tired reading |
|
about these spoiled brats in the paper every freakin' day.
Play the game, get paid your millions and millions of dollars, and quit whining because the other baby got more attention than you.
The Lakers sent Kobe to Colorado for his trial on a private jet and he complained that it wasn't good enough. Awww...gee Kobe, that's just too bad.
